The Chinese military’s newspaper on Wednesday criticized the recent Hollywood box-office hit Zootopia for promoting US values through "invisible propaganda."

中国军方报纸在周三发文针对最近热卖的好莱坞大片《疯狂动物城》,批评该片隐晦地宣传美国价值观。

The film’s tale of a rabbit from the countryside who becomes a successful police officer in the city implicitly says to young viewers, "What American dreams cannot be realized by ordinary people?" the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Daily said in a bylined commentary on Wednesday.

《解放军报》在周三的一份署名评论中写道,这部电影讲述了一只从乡村来的兔子在城市中成为一名成功警察的故事,而这个故事隐晦地向年轻观众灌输一个理念,即“有什么美国梦是不能够被普通人实现的呢?”

The film’s portrayal of a sheep as the main villain, instead of a lion or tiger, was also criticized for contradicting the common sense notion that "wolves prey on sheep."

这这部电影中,大反派的角色是由一只绵羊而不是狮子或老虎来担任。而这也同样被批评,认为违背了“狼吃羊”的常理。

Western cultural industries represented by the US have developed a "stable and mature" set of methods to export their core values, according to the opinion piece, which noted that, "Hollywood has long been an effective propaganda machine for the US," as many countries - including China - have long been aware.

评论还说道,以美国为代表的西方文化产业已经发展出一套“稳定且成熟”的方法,以出口宣传他们的核心价值观。而正如包括中国在内的许多国家早已知晓的那样,“好莱坞从来都是一个有效的美国价值观宣传机器。”

This propaganda system has recently stepped up efforts to export values through animation and video games, a more subtle method to earn the attention of the young, it noted, citing the animated Disney film Zootopia as an example.

军报的评论还以迪士尼电影《疯狂动物城》为例,指出美国近来加紧通过动画和游戏来出口它的核心价值观,而这种更加狡猾的策略能够吸引更多年轻人的注意,并影响他们的意识。

Released on March 4, Zootopia has earned a total of 1.45 billion yuan (223.59 million dollars) at box offices in the Chinese mainland, the Xinhua News Agency reported Tuesday.

据《新华时报》在周二的报道,3月4日上映的《疯狂动物城》已经在中国大陆席卷了14.5亿元人民币(约合2.2359亿美元)的电影票房。

The PLA Daily commentary pointed out that the US strategy of rebalancing toward Asia was also embedded in Pacific Rim, a Hollywood science fiction monster film released in 2013, where the key battle to beat the monster just "happened" to take place in the South China Sea.

《解放军报》的评论还指出,美国“重返亚太”的战略也体现在2013年上映的好莱坞科幻怪物电影《环太平洋》中。在该片中,打到怪物的关键战役“恰好”发生在中国南海区域。

"On one hand, audiences should be guided to notice the propaganda; on the other hand, more should be invested in Chinese cultural industries to boost soldiers’ confidence in Chinese culture and core values," the commentary suggested.

评论还建议到:“一方面,应该引导观众注意到电影中宣传美国价值的细节;另一方面,应该加大对中国文化产业的投资,以提升军人对中国文化和核心价值观的自信心。”
